Visit a Freshman Focus School
The main component of the resource center is the Freshman Focus curriculum consisting of daily lesson plans, activities, discussion guides, and content pages for schools to modify, adapt, and use for their own programs.
In addition to the curriculum, the following resources are also available:
- Student Workbook: The complete workbook for ninth graders to use as they work through the program. The workbook includes activity worksheets and content pages for each lesson.
- Steps to Implement Freshman Focus: Because successful implementation does not happen by just "adding a program," we have develop eight steps for school personnel to follow as they develop a transition program for their school. Explanations and suggestions accompany each implementation step.
- Toolkits: Five interactive tool kits packed full of resources and information are available for administrators, site coordinators, and teachers to use in planning and managing the day-to-day operations of the Freshman Focus program. Toolkits are available in the following areas: (1) Orientation Camp; (2) Faculty Advisor; (3) Site Coordinator; (4) Executive Council; (5) Intramurals. Additionally, on-line support is available with each toolkit.
- Visit a Freshman Focus School: Schools wanting to see a Freshman Focus program in action can request to visit a Freshman Focus school.
- Discussion Forum: This on-line interactive forum gives administrators, site coordinators, and teachers the opportunity to chat with other school personnel running Freshman Focus programs throughout the country. This is a great venue to ask questions, get suggestions, offer curriculum ideas, and communicate about best practices.
